Yellow golf balls back in style: Srixon Z-Star Tour Yellow
There was a time when yellow golf balls were the next big thing. That was, oh, the mid 1980s or so, if I recall correctly.
Fast forward through the 1990s and 2000s, when yellow balls were about as popular as yellow snow.
Now, though, retro is all the rage. Hot young golfers like Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy are wearing bright colors, loud patterns, and unruly hair, and all of the sudden, those old orange plaid flared-leg slacks of Johnny Miller’s and Tom Weiskopf’s don’t look so outlandish anymore.
Cue those yellow golf balls: It’s time for them to make a comeback.
I just received a shipment of Srixon’s new Z-Star Tour Yellow balls, and it’s very clear that these aren’t your grandpa’s old yellow rocks.
Whereas the previous generation of yellow balls were hard and cheap, Srixon’s new Tour Yellow are 3-piece, high-performance balls every bit as soft and responsive as the top-shelf offerings of other ball companies. Even the distinctive outer cover itself is new and innovative. Srixon’s engineers have combined yellow and green hues to create a flourescent cover that makes the Tour Yellow the most visible ball on the market. Even on bright sunny days or against low, overcast clouds, golfers will be able to track the Z-Star all the way to the target.
Still don’t believe me that yellow balls meet the quality standards of serious golfers? Then ask Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk, who will be playing the Tour Yellow on Tour this year.
The Z-Star Tour Yellow will retail for $40/dozen and will be available April 1. But don’t let that release date fool you: The new breed of yellow balls are no joke.

/ SMT Golf? Thanks in advance, Boz.
Are there any golf balls you can recommend for a high-handicapper that are brightly colored and not overly expensive?
