"Fore" golf gifts for Father's Day 2014
I think if I could have one golf-related wish for all golfing fathers on Father’s Day, it would be for every single one of them to get a hole-in-one. How awesome would that be?
Our friends over at Omaha Steaks would probably somewhat less that thrilled at the miraculous coincidence, though. You see, Omaha Steaks is offering a free box of T-bones to any Dad who cards an ace on June 15th. If every Dad made an ace, it would probably “eat” into profits a bit. (Pun intended.)
For patriarchs not lucky enough to hole out in one on Father’s Day, here are “fore” more gift ideas. (I’m feeling punny today, I guess.)
I’ve been writing about Ogio golf bags and luggage for years. Now Ogio is adding a line of golf apparel. Like the company’s bags, the shorts and shirts are top-notch. I especially like the little rubbery strips inside the waistband of the shorts, which grip your shirt and help keep it from coming untucked.
If Dad travels a lot, check out the Keilir Pillow. It’s a small memory-foam pillow that rolls up for easy travel. Removable, adjustable foam attachments are included to help Dad find just the right position for his neck and head. This is a great pillow to take along on trips to supplement and improve hotel pillows, and it’s much better than those little cotton balls they try to pass off for pillows on airplanes.
Gary Player: A Game for Life DVD Box Set
Gary Player is 79, and he posed nude for ESPN Magazine’s body issue. He does something like 1,000 crunches a day. He’s brash, he’s opinionated, he’s a bit full of himself, but anyone with his credentials and continuing super-human vitality is allowed all of these things – and you and I would do well to listen. Player can make you a player!
This 3-disc set consists of 1) Sandplay, Practice; 2) Putting, Short Game; and 3) Diet, Fitness, and The Interview. You want to be playing golf with Dad when he’s 79, right? Maybe this DVD set from the indefatigable Black Knight will help make that happen.
The Greatest Golf Courses and How They Are Played: North America
If Dad is a golf history or golf architecture buff, this compact yet handsomely illustrated book is easily digestible despite the breadth and depth of information about the continent’s best classic and modern layouts.
And of course, once the best courses have been identified, see if you can snag some choice tee times for you and Dad at GolfNow.com – Go play!
And Happy Father’s Day to all fathers out there, golfers and non-golfers alike!
