Anything you can do, Wie can do better
You won’t have to look very hard to find stories on Michelle Wie’s first major victory today that open with words like “Phew!” or “Finally!” or “Underachieving” or…well, you get the idea.
I’d like to remind everyone that Michelle Wie is just 24 years old.
Jack Nicklaus was 22 years old when he won his first major.
Tiger Woods was 23.
Annika Sorenstam was 25.
Seems to me, Wie’s timing is pretty good.
So if you were expecting her to break through in a major sooner, that’s on you, not her. Almost 10 years ago, I was saying just give her time.
I covered The 2004 U.S. Women’s Open, which was Wie’s first U.S. Open. That was just 10 years ago…when she was 14. If you seriously expected her to win a bunch of majors before now, while earning a degree from Stanford, and, like, growing up along the way, well, like I say: that’s on you, not her.

I'm with you. I have been saying the same things about Michelle since she first appeared in golf. She has tremendous talent and it will continue to become more apparent.
She's just a kid yet, but she will win big.
