Nicklaus Golf Balls: An easy choice in every way
In this age of custom-fitted golf clubs, putters, and even golf balls, things can get pretty confusing. (For instance, see “One golf ball doesn’t fit all – or does it?“)
Enter Jack Nicklaus – The Golden Bear himself – who has always had a bit of a gift for cutting through the hoo-hah and getting to the point. His new Nicklaus Golf Balls make choosing the right ball for you as simple as stepping up to your tee blocks.
“A very small percentage of golfers know their swing speeds, but 100 percent of them know what tees they play,” Nicklaus says. “Our new balls solve the golfer’s dilemma of which ball to use; all you need to know is the tee you play from. The Nicklaus White ball is designed for the players who might typically play the forward white or red tees. Nicklaus Blue is designed for players who would typically play the middle or blue tees. And, finally, Nicklaus Black is designed for the single-digit or better golfer who generally plays from the back or black tees. We all know that the game of golf can be challenging enough, so we tried to simplify the decision-making process of selecting the right golf ball[.]”
Making the choice of golf ball even easier, Nicklaus is donating at least $1 for every dozen balls sold to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The balls can only be purchased on Nicklaus.com or in the pro shops of over 200 Nicklaus-designed golf courses world-wide. This cuts down on distribution costs, ad retail costs: the cost for these premium balls range between $28-$32 per dozen.
I’ve been playing the Nicklaus Black balls for a couple weeks now, and I can say that they perform admirably: long, great feel, and easy to ID, as not many people have started playing with them yet.
The choice is easy: great color-coded golf balls to fit any game, reasonable price, support for a wonderful charity.
