Dead Solid Perfect was/is one of Dan Jenkins' best novels (he also hits it out of the park with the Billy Clyde Puckett football books). It was turned into a pretty darn good movie. I'd put it at #1 for golf flicks. GGEP - excellent and #2. CS - funny and classic at #3. TLOBV - well-shot and fun at #4. Tin Cup...what can one say? Rene Russo was HOT and Don Johnson was evilly funny...but the "dunk n drop" sequence was SO unbelievable (even for a movie)...that it hardly merits consideration.

GGEP take a good book and makes it good on screen, you are saying? TLOBV takes a great book and messes it up on screen. DSP take a good book and makes it good on screen. HG and CS are written-for-the-screen works, as is TC. Those are the big six, as far as I'm concerned.

The Greatest Game Ever Played is one of the top two or three golf movies. (Can we discuss which are the top two or three?) Its main weakness is a little bit of historical inaccuracy. But at least it gets a little bit of the history of the game out to the non-golfing public.

It took some time, but we finally found some common ground Ron Mon. Dead Solid Perfect is a great, if not slightly dated movie depicting life on tour, complete with realistic(compared to Damon in Legend) golf action, booze and even some naked groupies thrown in there.

Yes--I was recently shamed by my brother-in-law for not having seen Dead Solid Perfect yet (or reading the book). It is on my list for 2007. By all accounts, it is excellent.

We are Marshall. Actually, Bagger Vance sucked even worse than the reviews. A quick score is what they were after, but no director could do justice to Pressfield, with the exception of the dude who did Lord of the Rings. I have not seen this one, but I did enjoy the novel. My favorite golf movie, though, is an HBO production...Dead Solid Perfect. Dan Jenkins as presented by Randy Quaid, a guy who can really swing a club...what's not to like?
