Topless pools in Las Vegas? The horror. The horror.

Friday May 27, 2005 | 08:07:32 101 words, 5426 views
Win a free golf book!
So, Chris Baldwin is all charged up about the new topless pools at the new Wynn Las Vegas, Caesars Palace and Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. Baldwin, if you’re thinking it’s going to be a bevy of hot babes, get ready to weep. $100 says it’s the same blue-haired old biddies from the slot machines, sans bikini tops. Perhaps we should send Old Man McDonald instead. Tim could sip a few Metamucil coladas while checking out the topless leatherbacks at poolside and still have time to tie on a feedbag for the $3 AYCE prime rib, and get to sleep by his ... full post »

Just wanted to put in a plug for a great online talk radio show I’ve discovered, Golf Central USA. Blaise Lewark and Graham Ledger do a great job of covering all aspects of the game, travel stuff, tour updates, products, etc. Check it out. full post »

Society of American Travel Writers member/ex-Caribbean Golf ed. blasts Rebel

Monday May 23, 2005 | 16:25:58 347 words, 1456 views
The Serial Cheerleader strikes again! In a posted response to my blog on the Washington Post throwing the TravelGolf.com golf bloggers some love, former TG employee Dale Leatherman writes that the Post “must have missed the Rebel Blogger’s blatant attacks on travel writers, calling them ‘media whores’ for accepting comp trips.” She goes on to say their article “neglected to mention that Travel Golf’s own writers also accept comps. Looks like the pot calling the kettle black.” Pot calling the kettle black, Dale? Hardly. Does TravelGolf.com accept comps? Certainly. But our writers do not accept anything as a quid pro quo ... full post »

Shhh! Tiger, Mickelson, Singh battling at Wachovia

Thursday May 5, 2005 | 13:40:52 110 words, 1127 views
With Tiger back at the track this week and the U.S. Open coming up, the Grand Slam buzz has started up again. Some weeks, sure - that’d be the most interesting thing to talk about. But with Woods, Vijay Singh, Lefty Mickelson and five other top-10 ranked guys are playing the Wachovia Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, enough with the chatter ……. This is one of those weeks on Tour where it’ll be a pleasure just to sit back and watch the top guys battle an old-school course. Not going to make a prediction on whose going to ... full post »

Van Sickle: Champions Tour is geezerville

Tuesday May 3, 2005 | 05:37:11 99 words, 1172 views
I hope all you bitter old hacks still calling for the head of Chris “They’re Just Boring” Baldwin because he had the nerve to rip on the Champions Tour will go back to alphabetizing your collection of “Murder, She Wrote” VHS tapes and drop it. Or at least turn your fury in the direction of Gary Van Sickle, who breaks down the reasons no one cares about the geezer tour. Which brings to mind the question: If no one cares about the Champions Tour, who cares to read about nobody caring about the Champions Tour? Oh, yeah, these guys. full post »

Who'd you rather caddie for? Vijay or Jackie Gallagher-Smith?

Monday May 2, 2005 | 06:39:25 109 words, 1510 views
So, can anyone tell me what a caddie for Vijay Singh has in common with a caddie for Jackie Gallagher-Smith? Seriously, folks …… what’s your take on this Gary Robinson character, the guy who claims Gallagher-Smith made him “an unwitting sperm donor?” The AP story says Robinson is now “out of work as a caddie and is pursuing a career as a professional golfer.” Listen. Hear that!? It’s Tiger quaking. No …… wait. Sorry. That was me cackling. This story just has so much potential for cheap jokes and jabs. Alas, I am above that sort of thing (and way too ... full post »
