Suzy Whaley set to rock Kiawah Island during PGA CPC
There’s a fair bit of LPGA chatter here of late, even talk of the LPGA’s “These Girls Rock” PR campaign. Get ready, however, for one chick who really rocks. I’m a huge fan of Suzy Whaley, the PGA Pro from Connecticut who, in 2002 became the first female PGA member to play in the PGA Club Professional Championship. A year later, you may remember, she became the first woman since Babe Zaharias in 1945 to qualify for a berth in a PGA Tour event.
She’s at it again.
The 38-year-old is going to play in the CPC again this year, this time at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina at the same course that hosted the ‘91 Ryder Cup Matches (remember back when the American team used to win?)
Given that she’ll be competing from 6,229 yards while the guys will play from 7,355 yards, look for a lot of huffing and puffing. Forget that, though ……. this is going to be a fun story to watch. Suzy rocks!
