The same profanity Tiger Woods uses bothers most Americans

While it’s widely acknowledged that Tiger Woods is a class act and a good guy, there is one criticism that comes up from time to time, his mouth. No, not the stuttering he overcame as a child - I mean the curse words. The potty talk. The foul language. A great deal of this criticism, I suspect, is just from devoted fans of other pros who feel, if not for Tiger, their guy would rule the links right now, that “their” Lefty or Ernie or Vijay would be the most famous golfer in the world. Those fans need to latch on ... full post »

Lefty site fires back at Rush Limbaugh over Michelle Wie controversy

Wednesday March 29, 2006 | 05:15:50 105 words, 1018 views
So now liberal e-newsletter Think Progress has weighed in on the Rush Limbaugh/Michelle Wie controversy. Read “McNabb Redux: Limbaugh Trashes Golf Prodigy Michelle Wie.” The topic seems to have fired up their readers; some 129 comments have been posted there as I write this! They include this gem: BadGolfer.com is a disgrace for even pubishing an interview with this righ wing maggot. I have no idea what they think he has anything to do with golf. Rush Limbaugh is easy fodder for BadGolfer.com to get easy hits. They should focus on improving your golf game, not stuffing right wing crap down our throats. full post »

You can listen here to right-wing radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh talking on his program about how he says comments made during his BadGolfer.com interview with Chris Baldwin have been taken out of context and twisted by Time magazine (Click here for Time’s “10 Questions For Michelle Wie"). When Baldwin asked Rush about Michelle Wie, he responded: “It’s a triumph of marketing. If she really wants to play with the men, it’s fine. Let her try for a tour card. But now it’s a marketing tool they’re using to build her up to a level much greater than her actual ... full post »

Steroids in golf!? Could happen. But don't look for a Barry Bonds on the PGA Tour

Wednesday March 15, 2006 | 07:24:12 502 words, 2214 views
Reading online excerpts from “Game of Shadows,” the book by Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams about Barry Bonds, I couldn’t help but wonder what it will take for the governing bodies of golf to get serious about steriods. Clearly the issue has blown up in the face of Bud Selig, “commissioner” of Major League Baseball. A century from now, baseball historians and nerds will be talking about the Steroid Era the way we talk about the Black Sox scandal. Besides pushing MLB’s credibility to the brink, Selig’s pussyfooting around the issue (not that combating on the players’ union would have been ... full post »
