SirShanksAlot is rating the best golf clubs of 2006 this week. Today he gave the nod for the “SirShanksAlot.com Golf Club Of The Year 2006″ to the Nike Sasquatch 460.

“I think what the SQ did was introduce the average golfer to the ‘whatever works’ train of thought,” he writes. “2007 promises less ‘traditional’ drivers and more clubs designed with MOI in mind. Sure it looks odd … but your playing partners won’t be laughing when you start hitting more fairways then them!”

GCOY honorable mention goes to Callaway’s Fusion Wide Sole and the Ping G5 Driver.

The Titleist 695CB gets his “Iron Of The Year - Low Handicap” honors (honorable mention to the Adams Idea Pro Forged and Mizuno’s MP-60).

The Mizuno MX-25 is SirShanksALot’s “Iron Of The Year - Mid Handicap, with HM going to the Wilson Ci6 and TaylorMade R7).

The Callaway Fusion Wide Sole gets the nod for “Iron Of The Year - High Handicap,” with HM going to the TaylorMade R7 XD and Adams A2 OS.

Driver Of The Year - Low Handicap: Titleist 905R
Honorable Mention - TaylorMade R7 425 TP, Nike Sasquatch Tour 460

Driver Of The Year - Mid-High Handicap: Ping G5
Honorable Mention - TaylorMade R7 460, Nike Sasquatch 460

Just like every other rating program...where are the Sonartecs, the Alphas, the Feel Golfs? This guys is sucking up to the big names, without having tested the little guys. Maybe tomorrow's installment will shine a ray of hope on my cynical lawn of shadows.
