Long live the lefty

I just wanted to be the first to congratulate my fellow lefty.

I’ve been watching Philly Dog since I was about 8. I’ve lived and died with every one of his Major appearances (mostly died until this year). Watching him tear around Kauai at the Grand Slam of Golf to a blistering 59 helped me realize that a new Phil has arrived.

Many thought that a new Philly was here after this year’s Masters, but we saw a little more of the same – albeit slightly better than normal – in this season’s final three Majors. Now I know he has arrived.

Philly, to you I raise a glass. And I look forward to an upcoming career grand slam.

all these 'experts' who say phil is require many months to get use to callaway are so very wrong and stupid--heshoots 59 with all calloway clubs and ball and i guess he knows what is right for him, no?

Congratulations to Phil Mickelson are in order (and for anyone who shoots a 59 in competition), but a couple of things must be kept in mind. This was a particularly easy golf course under the weather conditions that weekend. That course is designed to play in the wind, and in still, sunny conditions, it had no defense. Even the rough was not much of a factor. Secondly, while you could make the point that this was a "competitive match", let's face it. There was absolutely no pressure involved in winning or losing.
That aside, I'm very happy for Lefty. He's a bright spot on the tour, and I hope he goes on to shoot many more low numbers, and wins several more majors.
