I love Phil Mickelson. He’s a great golfer. He’s classy. Hell, his sister even looks hot. And, I love the fact he won the PGA Championship, sticking it up Chris Baldwin’s arse. Like Baldwin, however, we all know Lefty is a complete gagger who freezes up at the wrong moment, stealing defeat from victory. For Godsake, let’s get off of Tiger Woods’ back! Needing three players to make bogey with one hole to go to get into a playoff, Tiger Woods decided that he didn’t want to stick around for an extra day all for the grand prize of finishing in third place. Apparently, heading home rather than sticking around on a Monday to particpate in a forgone conclusion was not Tiger’s idea of a fine time. I say who cares. Golf Blogger brought up in his blog how John Daly repeated his feat of reaching the Par 5 17th at Baltusrol in two. Golf Blogger, as he tends to do, blogs without offering definitive opinions. I’m a basketball fan who rarely got enjoyment out of watching Michael Jordan. There wasn’t any drama. He showed up with his seven dwarfs and marched to victory just about every time. He took guys like Steve Kerr, John Paxson, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant and made them look a lot better than they really were. The fact that The Thistle Golf Club, north of Myrtle Beach is going with 12-minute rounds of golf IS commendable. It will make for a leisurely round of golf. However, this is a PR ploy that Tim McDonald has been suckered into. The fact is you can show up at this golf course just about any time and there is hardly anyone there. It’s not a bad track, really. But it is not very popular. I have been there three times and I could have played two ball. As of just last year their clubhouse was still a trailer. Remember the desire to test severely the best players in the world. The greens will hold a properly executed shot hit to the center.
