Here is my rant for Saturday, as television coverage for the Skins Game is going to get underway on the East coast. All that schmoozing and joking on the first eight holes is cute the first time, redundant and falacious each subsequent instance. Here’s what I want from Turkey Claus this Thanksgiving: All four participants will joke and jest for all 18 holes, yet still try to compete and win. Here’s my why–Each weekend day throughout the golfing season, average golfers play two games with their partners. They try to win, yet they also try to keep the atmosphere light. I’m not asking for frivolity on the back nine at Augusta, guffaws on the 18th at Oakmont, chuckles around the loop at St. Andy’s, or even gold, frankincense and mirth at the PGA. What I want is an experiment: it’s the silly season, so show us silly for the entire round, and show us what you’re really made of.
