Meltdown: Reversed
Ryan Hietala showed his mettle on Friday by reversing the riptide that pulled him out to sea. The stretch of holes that punished him in eight strokes over par on Thursday, found him four under on Friday, on the way to a 66. Moving from t2 to t73 to t19 in the course of 36 hours is not recommended for the faint of heart. Hietala is made of stronger stuff, and it is gratifying to see one of such fibre at the cauldron of PGA Tour School.
Guys we’re gonna miss (as in, they won’t make the cut):
Jim Carter, Tom Scherrer, Kevin Stadler, Tjaart Van Der Walt, Phil Price, Esteban Toledo, Matt Goggin.
Guys we’re amazed to see are still in it:
Michael Allen (leading, to boot!), Jay Don Blake, Roland Thatcher.
Guy who seems to slide as the tourney goes on (as in, don’t count on me to finish strong):
Bill Haas (68-72-73)
