Bowditch update & other stuff you didn't know mattered

Punctuating his four days in Palm Springs with a six-bogey, one-double, one-triple, three-birdie Saturday, Steven Bowditch’s over-par performance necessitated a trip to the drug store. Kaopectate, Immodium, gas-x, anything to relieve the spate of flatulent bogitis that runied his time in the desert. That’s seven pars and lots of entertainment on the day. If he could have turned some of those big numbers down, and few more pars into birdies, his 12 birds and 3 eagles would have granted a top-twenty finish.

Campbell had 27 birdies, four eagles, a double and four singles, in addition to a nest of pars for the week. -31 gross versus -18 gross for Bowditch. Looks like the old laugher in the desert is still loads of fun, but not necessarily the bogey-free diet it used to be.

Ringer Score for the week:
1-Perez 60
2-Senden 63 (123)
3-Rose 64 (187)
4-Parnevik 62 (249)
5-Glover/Garrigus 66 (315)…These guys are good!

Other than Campbell, Senden was the only guy to give back shots on the back nine while in contention. Even par for the half would have left him in a tie for 2nd instead of a tie for 5th. Must have been worth a couple hundred grand, huh?

Sad to see Rose and Sabbatini have yet another last-day bout of flatulence. Plus-One and Plus-Two don’t lend any credence to the “Young-Gun” theory. Probably the worst curse to place is promise/potential. Remember when Gary Nicklaus was on the cover of SI? Don’t tell me it didn’t go to his head.

High Ringer Score
1 Bowditch 79
2 Hamilton 83 (162)
3 Riley 81 (243)
4 Bowditch 80 (323)
5 4 Guys 78 (401) … These guys are decent.

Word on the street is that Blogger Leaderboard has a new favorite golf book. Gardner Dickinson’s LET ‘ER RIP holds some strange interest for her. More on that later.
