Tiger Woods' Intimidation Factor: The Color Red or Something Deeper?

Has anyone else noticed the softening of Tiger Woods’ intimidating red shirts on Sunday? Gone from Sunday at San Diego were the rubines and the deep maroons. Tiger Woods In Salmon At San Diego Disappeared from Dubai were the carmines and crimsons that triumphed in major championships of yore. Tiger in Salmon at Dubai Maybe, just maybe, the softer reds (some call this one ’salmon’) are the influence of his lovely wife. Perhaps, just perhaps, he is so darned intimidating that he doesn’t need the powerful scarlets and falus that remind his opponents that he is out for blood. Just a thought on a boring Monday morning.

In an interview after the San Diego win Tiger said the color was "salmon" and the people at Nike talked him into it (read: paid him to wear it).

My wife described the color as coral, although I thought it was just a pastel kind of reddy pink.

He seems to know, instinctively, what it will take to kill the competition without having to blow them away. The dark reds were too much and it's a sign of his marriage, no doubt about it, that he has eased off on the macho stuff a little.

Did you know he has stated emphatically that when he has kids, his schedule will change radically and his focus will move away from winning titles and more towards golf. That's a very responsible thing for a man with no children to say. He is a very intelligent (and well-managed) young man.

That's an interesting comment: away from championships and more toward golf. Does that mean golf for golf's sake? Does it mean not caring if the putts fall? After winning her career grand slam, Pat Bradley did the same thing, but found that you can't give it up partly and still be competitive down the stretch. Interesting comment.

What is truly amazing, is that Tiger's game is so good all-around, that when one side fails the other makes up for it. He won Dubai by chipping and putting.

Tiger has become quite the metro sexual on and off the course since he married the Norse Goddess from Valhalla.

Tiger may have to miss the next event after lifting the trophy in Dubai. He contacted his contractor to add another trophy room on his new Miami digs to hold the Dubai prize.

Well, he's not the lanky afro-kid that he was growing up, but I don't know any metro that is quite as cut as he is. Most metro faces are less threatening, too. RE: The contractor, it's not that he needs another room, just that he wants to hook a waterline up to the trophy to make it a fountain.

I very much doubt Tiger said that. He may have said, 'I will always put my family before golf' - fair enough, of course your wife and kids are more important than golf! - but Tiger plays golf to win. He's said that so many times.

When Tiger no longer plays golf to win, he will retire. Now that is something he HAS said.

Sarcasm ... are you saying that I don't have thoughts? That Monday was not boring? That it was not Monday? That it was not morning? I missed another one!!!

Are there many other readers who believe that a man who makes $89 million a year is motivated by money in choosing his attire? For goodness sakes, Nike has given him rights to his own clothing line.
