Ernie Els, Tiger Woods, and Knee-Jerk Reactions

Just a bit of a drop while I’m waiting to head to Kohler. I’ve never torn an ACL. In fact, without mapquest, I probably couldn’t find my ACL. However, I know enough about the injury to tell you this…it takes time. Remember Edgerin James’ long road to recovery with the Colts? How about Willis McGahee and the Bills? It’s never a sure thing, and it takes patience and tons of rehab. Everyone expected Tiger to return to top form immediately, but the reality was that he needed more than a year. The same can be said of Els. Add to that the fact that Ernie is, like Phil, totally into the “Dad” thing, and you have a hindered superstar with a reality complex. If Tiger ever returns to earth and decides to have and love kids, his major production will be cut in half. Don’t expect El Casualzote (Spanish for the big easy) to win a major in the next three years. However, for all you jerks out there, don’t expect much from the knee, either.
