Big Whoop over Ryder Cup points awarded to Rollins at B.C. Open

How to make news out of nothing…John Rollins received ten more points for winning the B.C. Open than Chris DiMarco earned for placing 2nd at The “Other” Open. And we care…Why? Rollins vaulted past Vaughn Taylor, Lucas Glover, washed-up Davis Love 3.5 and Fred Couples, and Tim Herron into 10th place. If Rollins stays there, then he earns his spot. If not, he drops out of consideration for a wild-card spot. As things stand right now, none of the highly-touted Young Americans (sorry, Bowie) have done anything to justify inclusion as a wild-card pick, other than Arron Oberholser, such as … win. As it is, my only suggestion to Captain Tom is, pick two guys that the veterans, such as Tiger, Phil, Furyk, Toms and DiMarco, agree on. With frosh like Campbell, Henry, Rollins, Johnson and Wetterich potentially on the team, the two captain’s picks will certainly take on their greatest importance ever.

Still not sure how I feel about all this new blood being in position to make the team. On the one hand, it makes for a weaker team, on paper, than they've had in a good many years. On the other, the U.S. had the stronger team ON PAPER the past few Cup years and look where it got 'em. You're right about the importance of that Captain's Pick, however.

Great golf blog site! I love to watch golf and am a HUGE Vaughn Taylor fan. I don't care about points as long as they eventually lead to him being on the Ryder Cup team.
