If Lehman wants Ryder Cup that badly, let him have it!

If Tom Lehman wants to win the Ryder Cup so badly that he sees himself as a viable playing candidate, let him have it! He came within an eyelash and a hawaiian of vaulting into the top ten this week in Colorado. None of the other pretenders made anything resembling a move. Heck, Lehman himself may be that veteran force he so desperately needs to steady the ship. Davis? Fred? Scott? Neither their actions nor their words have demonstrated any explosive desire to help the USA reclaim the cup. Yes, Medinah will have the final say, with double points and a cauldron of pressure. As putts go scudding across greens and drives err in finding their mark, perhaps I will eat these words. My suspicion is that I will not. If Lehman can play conservative golf, garner a top ten and move into consideration in his own mind, then tie the wagon to Captain Tom and let’s journey to Ireland and do battle.

How could he possibly have left that eagle putt on 17 short of the hole? That one goes in and it's winner, winner, chicken dinner. His chance at victory and Ryder Cup spot was right there. No chance he gets in the top ten this week.

Lehman had no choice but to leave it short. He lost his golfing soul after throwing three straight US Opens into the garbage can. The US will get trounced again this year.
