Ride For Roswell Plus Golf Marathon For Carly's Club

Win a free golf book!

Here it is, the 16th of the year, and I’m already begging for funds. I’ll be Riding For Roswell (Park Cancer Institute) in Buffalo for the 12th consecutive year, but 2007 will bring something new. Seems like a bunch of local business dudes have been golfing 100 holes in a day (yes, Washington Golf Monthly/Golf Styles, we know you started the craze) for two years to raise money for Carly’s Club. Carly was a wee lass who passed away thanks to the dreaded “C” a few years back. Well, these guys are amazing, as is the stamina it takes to bank a C-Note of golf holes in 24 hours. Problem is, it takes a minimum of $5000 raised to get in. Now, I’m a teacher/writer/dad by trade, so fundraising is not in my blood. So I’ll be blunt: If you are considering a cause to which to contribute this year, please consider this fundraiser. They raised over $115000 last year among ten guys, which was beyond belief. I’m not in that league, but I am going to do my best to hit the 5G mark in order to get in. If you are interested in giving me fund-raising ideas or contributing, get in touch with me at buffalogolfer@buffalo.com. It’s the easiest way, and believe me, sarcastic wonker that I am, I will be weeping if I can hit this goal.
