Watson wins!
Sunday July 29, 2007 | 13:39:16 110 words, 1710 views
Tom Watson shook off the ghosts of Whistling Straits with a one-stroke victory in The Senior British Open. Unlike the USGA Senior Open, where a tenth-hole, double bogey began his demise, Watson rebounded with an 11th-hole birdie to right the ship. Even a 72nd-hole double bogey on the heels of a 71st-hole Ginn birdie could not close the four-stroke differential and force a playoff. Ginn, in fact, handed the tournament to Watson by running a five-bogey streak from holes 64 to 68. In other words, Watson gagged again, but survived, thanks to Ginn! Note to Sergio: build a bigger lead next time and find a bigger patsy to challenge you. Comments:
What stuff did he show? How to shoot 39 on the back nine of a senior major and win? If O'Mears or Ginn had played the back nine a wee bit better, Watson would have given away another one. Other than the charge to take the British away from Nicklaus in 1977, Watson was more a recipient than a taker of titles.

Ron Monster, get a grip and re-think your last response. Are you saying that a winner of 39 PGA Tour titles (including 8 major championships) and 10 Senior events (including 5 Senior majors) has not been a "taker of titles"? Please.
And furthermore - "Taker of titles, winner of titles, recipient of titles;" justwords and hogwash. The real question is "Which man would you rather have a pint with?"
Ginn on the pint question. Looks like he has much more hair to let down. Shanks, your grip is too strong. Please.
