Derek Fathauer, one of the battling Fathauer twins from Louisville, dismissed a wimpering Chris Kirk, ‘only’ the number one ranked amateur in the USA, by 7 and 6. What is disturbing about the slaughter is the fact that Kirk played 12 holes in six over par. To quote my own fine self, I Do That!

Fathauer began round two of match play with seven consecutive pars…not a Dimaggio-esque streak by any stretch, and worth only even par. Guess what? He found himself four holes up, as Captain Kirk had clearly teleported to some distant galaxy, far, far from par. With any luck, Kirk, Simpson, Kuehne, Johnson, Horschel and Moore will shed this languid, lackluster, spiritless cloud that currently envelopes them in time for a good showing at Royal Someone and Somesuch, come Walker Cup time.

In the meantime, young Mr. Fathauer has cracked the previously-uncrackable RonMon Walker Cup Watch (new day, new name.)

RonMon Walker Cup Watch
1. Kyle Stanley (currently 1 up)
1. Michael Thompson (currently 2 up)
3. Jon Curran (currently 2 down)
4. Gene Elliott (only if he wins…currently 2 down)
4. Derek Fathauer (only if he wins…through to round 3)

Shockinly, George Zahringer began round two bogey-bogey-bogey to quickly go three down to Ricky Scaggs, errr, George Jones, errr, I mean, Ricky Jones (whoever he was.)
