Unlike my erstwhile colleague, Chris “White Line” Baldwin, this blog entry is all over the road. No monochromatic themes for the RonMonster…instead, let’s look at the first round from all angles

Mr. Baldwin

-Vijay Singh, formerly ranked number 2 in the FedEx Cup standings, missed the cut.

–In the PrezCup CapnsPick sweepstakes, World leads USA. Nick O’Hern, the Tiger Tamer, is in the top 15 after twin 6, while Mike Weir found a way to make the cut on the number. Luke Glover missed the cut by a putt, while Hunter Mahan is tied for 31st.

—JB Holmes and JP Hayes (something about initials, I guess) had the best Thursday-Night turnarounds to make the cut. JB went 76-66, while JP went 75-67. On the flip side, Luke “I’m Done” Donald went 68-75, Billy Andrade went 68-77 and Chris DiMarco went 69-77 to miss the weekend. Ted Purdy had it worst, going 69-78 to also bid an early farewell.

—-The FedEx Cup is looking more like the U.N. Cup, with a Korean, two Aussies, three South Africaaners, and a resurgent Spaniard in the top twelve. Add Kenny Perry, native to the Commonwealth of Kentucky (quick, name the other three…too late…Ma, Pa and Va), to the list of foreign exchange students, and you’ve got quite the international brew.

—–Look at the Amerikaaners in the mix…what an eclectic bunch. Perry, Rich Beem, Bill Haas, Anthony Kim and Steve Stricker. Perry has a track record (although not of late) of winning; Beem is a one-shot wonder; Haas is the Kim of two years ago…much predicted, nothing to show, and Stricker is resurgent for three rounds, invisible on Sundays. My prediction is to go overseas for your winner.
