Time for Finchem to Man Up!
I am so captivated by the Fedex Playoffs that I am prepared to throw 100% of my support behind Commissioner Finchem if he would only pronounce the following two mandates:
Tiger, you are tired? Then STAY HOME for the next three weeks. You are out. No soup for you, no Coca-Cola, no Deutsche, no BMW, no East Lake.
Ernie, you want to see your little daughter off to school? BE A ROOM DAD as long as you wish. You are out, also.
Mr. Finchem, we of the golfing public are ready for you to boot Tiger’s tired tushy out of the playoffs. Pummel Ernie’s pedantic, pedagogic pater familius into powder. If you let two guys bully you, then the Stephen Ames’ssss of the world will not be far behind. If you say the word, we will support you.
See, I am a fanatic, unlike other bloggers out there, for the playoffs. I believe that Mr. Finchem ought not to cower, as other bloggers suspect he will do.
What will Ernie and Tiger do, other than prostrate themselves before the golden altar of St. Augustine and go four-for-four in 2008? Will Tiger only play the majors? Of course not. Will Ernie go back to the Euro Tour full time? Of course not. Tim, this is your golden hour. Man up!

Oh wait I did ... about a week and a half ago:

And then PGA player Jeff Maggert touted a similar plan a day later:

Next Ron Mon, I think you should argue that Michelle Wie is a little overhyped. It'd be really cutting edge if you suggested that Paula Creamer is going to have a much better career than Wie.
Or maybe, the tour could find a schedule accomodation not so soon after a major or allows a bye depending upon your standing. Or, consider Woods returns, wins Boston and Chgo, Atl could be moot. Point being, it will take time to figure out the optimal package.
That should send the Nielsons off the chart. Especially the before and after press conferences.
Tim Finchem would no more "man up" against Woods, than a beggar would man up against his welfare check. The ratings last week sucked as we all know and it is the TV money that drives the show, and last I checked, Tiger IS the show for sports fans. At least we get Johnny Miller and NBC today to keep it interesting. Let's be clear, this is not a Playoff, it is an not so cheap ploy to keep golf relevant as football takes over.
