GB&I Closing Gap at Royal County Down's Walker Cup
It’s one of Murphy’s Laws…as soon as you pay homage, it bites you in the arse. Murphy was a good Irishman, and his laws seem to favor the GB&I team at the moment. Rory McIlroy has just whipped Billy Horschel, and Rhys Davies is soundly smacking Rickie Fowler around the course (dormie three on the sixteenth tee.) Those two victories will close the gap to 10-8, favor USA. In the remaining six matches, GB&I finds its-selves 1-up in two, all square in two, and 1-down/3-down in two more. The key match, as registered earlier in my morning blog, is the Daniel Willett-Colt Knost face-off. If Willett beats our best match player (Knost won both the USGA Publinks and Amateur championships this year), a goat’s horn will bleet around the links of RCD. If Knost slows the bleeding, the USA might just find one more point to hold on to the cup. Stay tuned for further developments, or just watch the bleeding thing on televsion!
