Just when you thought the Ladies Tour of America had come into the new millenium, the Q-School Scoring Machine turned into a marshmallow. Here’s a link to the Real-Time Scoring page for the 2007 LPGA Q-School (Be warned…It’s a PDF!!) In contrast, the PGA Tour machine keeps rolling along as smoothly as Mr. 62, Frank Lickliter The Dos. Real-Time Scoring from two different courses, for goodness’ sake! LPGA, buy a new webmaster and get with the times. You can’t take an event as important as Q-School and treat it like a high school qualifier. full post »

Milton, Florida leads Germany by One stroke at Omega Mission Hills World Cup of Golf

Thursday November 22, 2007 | 08:18:04 510 words, 2689 views
I’ve never heard Heath Slocum speak. I’ve heard Bubba Watson and lord knows we’ve all heard Boo Weekley enunciate. Does Heath have that long, syrupy drawl, that goo dripping off a shovel, tongue kind of stuck here and there, form of pronouncing? I think that he had it surgically removed, something I thought was impossible. Anyhow, the boys from Milton each made an eagle yesterday, staking a one-blow lead over Germany. Alex Cejka, the largest German man in Las Vegas, partnered with Martin Kaymer, for a ten-under 62. Neither man played for his country last year, ... full post »

Forget NFL Football...There's Golf To Be Played This Thanksgiving!

Wednesday November 21, 2007 | 12:43:10 171 words, 2269 views
I do not suspect for one tick of the clock that Boo Weekley will resort to blogging to pay his hunting expenses. I do know that he is under contract to the PGA Tour to write a blog for the World Cup of Golf this week. I am unaware as to the true nature of Boo’s “fily-farting” around, but I cannot wait for his next installment. Unless someone from the Tour staff (and it’s possible) is writing “Boo Speak” this week, we are getting raw, uncut Boo in his blog. Check it out here, but be ... full post »

Scott Masingil and Rick Rhoden take Champs Tour Q-School lead

Wednesday November 14, 2007 | 06:23:27 117 words, 2341 views
I’ve never been a big fan of quoting the big rags in a positive way…call it a Napoleonic complex, whatevuh! A story by Cam Morfit (only people who have never met him call him Cam) touched on Scott Masingill and how good he is and BOOM! Look who’s leading the Q-School for Geriatrics. As for Rhoden, I’ve always felt sorry for guys who weren’t good enough to play more than one sport professionally. I shed tears for Jordan as he sucked on the golf course (in spite of all these claims that he’s actually good!) Same for ... full post »

Mr. Olympia, Phil Mickelson, Tarnishes Scorecard, Wins HSBC Champions

Sunday November 11, 2007 | 09:09:43 408 words, 2448 views
They don’t call it the silly season for nothing. Sure, the HSBC Champions event is an official spot on the Asian tour, the Euro tour, the Global tour, whatever, all three! The fact that it occurs when major events are far in the rear-view mirror (or still-unwrapped presents), that it brings in players with wheelbarrows of appearance money, and that playing form is rarely on for the top guns. PHIL SETTLES FOR TROPHY AFTER DREAMING OF OLYMPIC GOLF GOLD After an abysmal dog-and-pony show from long-time leader Phil Mickelson and the Empire’s Ross Fisher, where the leaders produced 9 bogies ... full post »

Guess who's tired? Freshman Pressel opens with 82 at T of C

Thursday November 8, 2007 | 19:04:08 89 words, 2382 views
Freshman year can be extraordinarily demanding: tough classes, boys everywhere, booze and drugs all over the place, pizza 24/7/365, credit cards…Oh, wait, Morgan Pressel’s not in college, she’s on tour. Between you and me, I think she’s tired. Remember those glory days of April to July? 1st place at the Nabisco, 2nd place at the Corporal Klinger Klassic (Jamie Farr, remember him?). Ahhh, sweet success. Since then, no top tens, a missed cut at a major, and an 82 to open the Tournament of Champions. Time for a rest, Morgan. full post »

Creamer "coasts" to seven consecutive birdies

Thursday November 8, 2007 | 18:10:57 53 words, 2244 views
Really quick here: Paula Creamer banged out seven consecutive birdies to finish (it seems) her first round at the LPGA T of C in Alabama. The Pink Panther shot 29 on the back after an opening-nine 38. Creamer is tied for first with the eternally-young Meg Mallon, with a five-pack two strokes behind in third. full post »

Remember the British Open? Check Out Part Two at the Volvo Masters

Sunday November 4, 2007 | 20:10:42 224 words, 2297 views
Remember the British Open, when that crazy young Argentine, Andres Romero, played crazy golf, then gave it away on Hole # 72? Cue Graeme McDowell at the Volvo Masters. McDowell led on Thursday with 68, then didn’t resurface until Sunday on hole # 71, where he made a double-freakin’ eagle to take the lead! He then double-bogeyed 18 to fall out of the lead, into a tie for 4th. Remember Padraig Harrington giving it away, then taking it back and winning? Well, Harrington gave it away with a nondescript, one-over 72, that included three bogies and two ... full post »

Forget Paying For College or The Mortgage...Look Like Hogan at Golf Magazine!

Saturday November 3, 2007 | 15:48:35 121 words, 2226 views
Is your trendy new clothing suddenly out? Never fear, the economic pragmatists at Golf Magazine are here. If you’d like to look like Hogan, you can do so for a mere $875. How to update it: Beige cardigan sweater in wool with a white cotton-blend stand-up collar golf shirt, both by J.Lindeberg ($259 and $75, respectively). Houndstooth wool pants by Bobby Jones ($295).Cotton argyle socks by Alan Flusser ($45). Shoes: Classic Saddle GTX by ECCO ($200). That works out to a pithy $160, more or less, per item. If you’re used to saving that money for the ... full post »
