Ernie Els goes wild, Lorena Ochoa plays an Oosthuizen, and Mark Brown says "Who's Mark Brown?"

In short order, Ernie Els is going crazy in south Florida. He’s -4 on a course that has given up one -6, one -5 and about a dozen -4s all week. With his main challenges coming from Matt “Tiger” Jones, Mark “Assistant Pro from Italy” Calcavecchia, and Luke “If it’s Sunday, it must be time to fold” Donald, the Big Queezy might just pull one out…Might!

Ochoa smashed the field like Oosthuizen did last week…simple as that. She had the low round on Thursday, low round on Friday, tied for low on Saturday, and tied for second-low on Sunday. She won by 11. Sorenstam took the “A” Flight by a deuce over Paula Creamer. How on is Laura Diaz this year? Go Deacs!

Mark Brown won the SAIL Open and the Johnnie Walker Classic in the space of 7 days. The Walker field was a solid one, including the Singhs (Vijay, Digvijay and Jeev), Arjun Atwal, Adam Scott, and others. Mark Brown and others are asking the question “Who is Mark Brown?” again and again.

It must be a big relief for Ernie Els to have finally won on the PGATour after such a long time. He is too good a player to have gone through such a long period of a title drought. Now to really be back in the big league he has to win a title with Tiger in the field to get the monkey of his back. After all, more than this win I am sure that loss in Dubai still hurts and he knows he will have to do more to be back on top.

For me the big story of last month has to be Mark Brown. After returning to the game he has managed to win two tournaments in two weeks without any real nervous shots. Perhaps the most careless shot he played in the course of the two weeks left him with a 20 foot eagle putt at the end of it. Quite obviously he is on a roll. Now it remains to be seen how he performs with people looking forward to a good show from him. Perhaps, the greater question is how he will perform outside India!!

Thanks, Andy. Nice to be that dialed into the zone, as Brown is. We all have those days, although they usually don't leave 20-feet eagle putts. It's nice to read a comment from someone without a terminal case of rectal blockage (my blogging colleagues are a case in point) that impedes good judgment and expression. Write back often.

Well, golly darn! Ronmon write a blog post that's simply a recap of some facts...and it draws "Andy" out of the woodwork to praise him to the skies??? Ahhhh, mon - methinks you've resorted to alter egos!
