Ferry Point Golf Course in Da' Bronx...Ferry Tale or Fairy Tale?
Friday March 7, 2008 | 15:04:05 138 words, 4717 views
Catchy title, I know. It is what I do. What they do not do in New York, apparently, are two things: complete projects and set viable time tables. Languishing for decades is a golf course project in NYC, the Bronx, Ferry Point. Nicklaus design associates bailed on the project recently. The whole thing seems a nightmare, a bad dream now with a sub-two year deadline for completion. Here’s a look at the course layout… And here’s a look at the property: We’re thinking along the same lines, right? Less than two years from shovel to sand trap? I think not. Way too much contaminate removal and capping before the basic work on a virgin site would begin. If you’d like to read a bit more on the topic, here are three links: Comments:

Didn't you just talk about how much you despise plays on words? Hypocrite.

Actually, I was talking about names of writers. It is splitting hairs, but word play on topics is all right. It's just the names, Mother Tucker, that get me.

Jeez Ron, is it a prerequisite that all your entries must in one form or another make a thinly (or not so thinly) veiled reference to fruit booties?
Comment from: Ron Mon [Member]
Wow, James, that's a pretty misread. Is that ignorance or homophobia on your part? Long before the word "fairy" was associated derisively with homosexuals, it referred to fictional tales meant to placate children. Sorry you missed that part of your education. Look into remediation.

Being born and bred in the Bronx I would have to say that if you can't play a course like you see in the pics above, you shouldn't be playing in the Bronx! We're used to all kinds of playing conditions...
Great views, however!

I want the Bronx to get this course more than anyone! No personal ties, although I have a good friend from Brooklyn. The people of the Bronx deserve this course, although not with the wall proposed to keep out the poor people, as you learn of in the links.

"homophobia" Implies fear. The term itself just doesn't make sense. I don't really care for lima beans does that make me a LimaPhobe? Just imagine hundreds of straight men quaking with fear during the RonMon
pride parade, yeah ok.

C'mon Ron, you have to admit this is sorta' fun in a beneficent sort of way.

Ron, please make sure you next blog entry has a reference to George Clooney. It's importand you keep the themes of your posts consistant.
Thanks Ron, your buddy James Angleton.
As usual, you're 100% wrong. There is no contamination that has to be removed. Moreover, over 1,000,000 cubic yards of earth are already there on the top layer. That's the cap. So you have stated completely erroneous facts.
There's no stipulation requiring liner or anything else on top of the filler already on site. The city and the architects who were there, including reps of both Joneses, all think the project can be up and running in 18-20 months. Even if not, permits get extended all the time. Instead of shooting from the lip, do some research, call some people, ask some questions. That way you don't look embarrassed upon reflection.

Be it the Village Voice, The NY Daily News, the Gothamist, the NYC Comptroller, you pick the source, Tom. Imagine being 100% wrong. Every point, every idea, every supposition, incorrect. It would be a monumental feat. The methane gas is still leaking, the landfill is not properly cleaned (and who knows what they will find when they do), and you shot yourself in the foot with your "permits get extended all the time" insinuation. Are you on the dole? Seems that way. No stipulation requiring liner could just as easily be read "we can dodge this one with the correct amount of $$$$." Forgive me if I take your attack much less seriously than you fired it.
No way, Ron, you goofed up badly. Your facts are completely wrong. I challenge you to post any proof whatsoever - from the source - that there needs to be environmental cleanup. Did you call the city and ask them? How about the architects that visited the site? There is no methane gas leaking at all or that remains in any way and all the clean up has been LONG completed. If you bothered to check with the city, you'd find they take the position that the feasibility studies are in unanimous agreement on this and show this CLEARLY. Why do you think all the architects showed up recently to walk the property and begin routing plans of their own? The early reports that methane leaked were retracted once the RFPs came back.
Bet they didn't have that in the Village Voice or the Gothamist, did they? And what the hell does the Voice or the Gothamist know about building golf courses? It was probly some idiot tree hugger spreading a lie to scuttle public support of the project. Poorly researched, poorly fact checked, and poorly written: that's Ron Mon.

Well, Tom, we'll just have to continue our disagreement. I'd propose "agreeing to disagree," but you don't seem to be of the proper maturity to accept such a proposal. Should you attain it one day, feel free to give us a heads up.
