I miss Eagles at The Masters...Really, I Do

As of this writing, an even dozen eagles have been posted at Augusta. Go to your grocer, buy a dozen eagles in a carton. That’s all. One was made by an amateur, so it shouldn’t even count. I miss eagles at Augusta. I miss eagles on 15, especially. Make eagle on 15 and you’ve got a shot at birdie on 16 (the carry-over effect.) Tiger made 3 on fifteen on Thursday; none there since then.

Allenby holed out for 2 on 10 today. That’s not a Masters’ eagle!! Poulter had an ace on 16 on Thursday. Same bit. 10 paltry par five eagles. Goosen has two in a row on 13…must be a throw-back.

The Masters used to be about eagles. Lots of them. You didn’t need eight or nine birdies because you could make two eagles for the price of four little sparrows. Come to think of it, that’s what I liked about The International…a chance to make up a lot of ground in a little bit of time.

I don’t like this new Masters, Sam I Am. I don’t like it long and tough, I don’t like it with that rough. I don’t like it with the trees, I don’t like them on their knees. I do like them when they drive, long and straight and eagle five (plus ten equals fifteen) I do like them when they ace, when they eagle, when they race (yeah, I know, I ran out of gas at the end there…Long Live Dr. Seuss!!)
