Call him the Mechanic, label his do’ the Spafro, he’s immune. He’s unpredictable and he once tied for second at the US Open with Ernie Els. He’s Miguel Angel Jimenez and he bears not one but two accent marks on his three names. He’s walking the fairways of Augusta National solo today and he’s minus-two for the day.

Did I mention he likes a good cigar? He’s no Cuban, but he celebrates with the best of them. When the Euros were chillaxing their way to Ryder Cup victories this millenium, MAJ led the way in celebrations with Darren Clarke. The familiar lit fat boy was Miguel’s way of sayiny HEY, if we win, we win; if not, we still smoke.

I think that one of my blogging compatriots picked The Mechanic as a dark-horse-to-win this week. He’s only two back of Tiger and nine back of the lead. If the weather turns foul this PM and he gets in around -6 for the day, -3 for the tournament, he’s back in it. Plus, he won’t be licking the wounds of a frightful afternoon.
