Japan's Taniguchi and Katayama Falter In Quest To Make Cut at Masters
Two of Japan’s finest golfing professionals placed outside the cut line this week at the Augusta National golf club. Toru Taniguchi and Shingo Katayama traveled to the USA with high hopes for glory at the Augusta National golf club. Taniguchi shook off a 7 at the 13th on Friday with two late birdies. His hopes were dashed when he could not muster the final birdie needed to make the cut on the line. His total of +4 over two rounds was one shot to high. Countryman Shingo Katayama, no stranger to fans from the USA, posted two double bogeys on Thursday on his way to a 79. He could not recover with enough birdies on Friday and booked a trip home as a result. Both Taniguchi and Katayama are expected to compete again next year in Georgia.
