Morfit Draws Short Straw...Forced To Take Asterisk Side

Poor Cameron Morfit…He drew the short straw over at SI/Golf.Com. Van Sickle, Hack, Phillips, Feherty and the rest got the last laugh and Morfit had to defend the application of an asterisk to the 2008 Open Championship. Here’s clarification for one and all:

Tiger is a threat only when he is in contention. We’ve had a few major championships where he has been nowhere fast. What if he had played like ever-loving crap at Torrey Pines on the bad limb? Would we have placed an asterisk next to Rocco or Lee? Of course not.

What if Tiger had continued to hide the injuries and finished t-64 at Birkdale? Would we have clamored for an asterisk? Of course not.

Do we rewrite history and deny Sean Micheel, Phil Mickelson, Mike Weir, Geoff Ogilvy and a host of others their major victories simply because Tiger wasn’t in contention? Of course not.

Lest we forget, in 2002, Kitty Kat Kame to The Open with the first two legs of the grand slam in his closet, then fired 70-68-81-65 to finish T-28. Does Els’ Open not count because Tiger shot 80 for the only time in a major? Of course not. Tiger shot 80, Tiger not in, seems like the Tiger snobs are the ones who protest too much, Mr. Morfit.

This asterisk talk is simply despicable. Is the golf media that out of ideas? Every time this is even mentioned it's a slap in the face to the rest of the Tour.

Right on, Brandon. Maybe Aaron's HR record should have been asterisked because Ruth was already dead. Idiocy.

BV, you schmuck. I've already told you that I'm a registered GOP. This is more lucid thinking than political appeal.

Mon - I'm afraid if you expect anyone to believe THAT, you're gonna have to scan and post your voter registration card.

Your views as expressed in posts/comments aren't even generally CENTRIST....let alone edging to the right as nearly all the GOP folks do....

Umm, yup, gonna do that right now...'cause I've never done heard of no identity theft...gonna say, though, that your mentor, Judge Smails, backed his politicized accusations up with proof. You make generalizations based on whim, not wisdom. Try harder, Simba.

Hey Ron Mon! Looks like you are finally getting some blog hits!

Man, ain't this fun! Hey, I'm the most popular guy here with my Romo insults. Learn from the master. Some call me dumb, retarded, stupid, chipmunk, etc., but hey, whatever works to keep my job, my boss is close to firing me and I don't want to go back on unemployment.
