If everyone shoots the same tomorrow as today, Wie will be +2 and miss the cut at even par. But that won't happen. She is T77 tied with just 5 others and only 1 shot bak of another 23 players. +1 should easily make the cut, and I think it is a good bet that +2 will make the cut as well. If the wind is bad tomorrow afternoon, the cut line could be higher. If Wie is able to shoot another 73 tomorrow, I think it probably will be good enough to make the cut.
By the way, what happened to the field. It is now donw to 132.

JimC: Reno open only have a 132-man field. 78 out of 132 players made the cut last year. Michelle will play last in the morning group starting at 10th tee, so she should expect lighter wind than she encountered in round 1. But by no means a guarantee that she can do better than her previous round. But she proved she can play a 7500-yard hilly golf course with a very respectable score considering she's a female golfer.
Looks like she had the mythical 300 plus yard driver working well today.
Of course the PGA must be lying about her hitting it over 322 yards. I guess they are part of the golf wide conspiracy also.
OBTW, it is important to note that David Duval finished five shots behind Miss Wie and will be petitioning the Duramed Futures Tour for a coveted exemption.
Not to mention finishing a stoke in front of Jay Williamson who said inviting Wie to the tournament was a joke.
Go on, mock David Duval all you want. Doesn't matter what you say. He's still an Open Champion and former World No. 1. He probably knows more about winning than Michelle will ever know.
Michelle's round went okay. I look forward to the second round.
If you dis another player you had better bring the game to back it up.
If you don't, you look like a bitter old fool.

I'm going to chime in with this: I think it will take even par to make the cut, regardless of the wind. Rain with wind is the only thing that could make it go higher. As any local amateur knows, playing well in a one-round event is not nearly as demanding as following it up with an equal or better score. That is the task today. If Wie is to become a bi-tour golfer, she needs to do it today and make the cut. She then needs to return to the LPGA, win an event, and go forward from there.

Cut should be even par, possibly +1. the thing with Wie is, if she is around the number, to watch her on the last few holes. In the past when she was playing well like this, she folded.
By the way, to all who whine about her getting in on an exemption - I notice there is still a lot of interest, good and bad, in how she plays. Think that's worth it to the sponsors now?
It looks like Pacrim and Jim C, both Wie sycophants of the first magnitude, are becoming giddy at the possibility of Bubbles making a cut in a PGA event after only eight tries.
They are not becoming euphoric at the thought of Bubbles actually WINNING an event, or even at the notion of her competing for top honors. No, the celebration will be if she makes the cut, even if it's right on the number. If that unlikely miracle occurs, it will be in a second-rate tournament with a relatively small field. Only 132 golfers teed it up. Of those, at least a dozen are really only part-time pros at best, and they entered at the behest of the tournament committee to at least partially fill out the field. These guys, although competent as golfers, have little expectation of making the cut. To several, this is the first and possibly the only PGA event that they will be in this year. About 65% of those golfers in the field will make the cut. They highest ranked player in the field is number 87. They remainder are aspiring to reach journeyman status, or are those whose careers are winding down, i.e., Steve Elkington, and Lee Janzen. In yesterday's round, Bubbles played probably her best round in two years. And for that she is to be commended. She made several good fairway iron shots, and pitched for some nice par and bogey saves. She completed her round with a mere 24 putts. And at the end of the day she was still EIGHT strokes from the lead! Does this tell you Wie Warriors anything? Such as she is outclassed? Judge Smails, you couldn't be more right. She doesn't belong in a PGA event, and that fact won't change even in the unlikely event that she makes the cut on the number. Alex USMC 1969-73
First, the projected cut is even. Second, I noticed that she had only 24 putts (as Alex pointed out), which placed her sixth in that category. This is reminiscent of that 68 she shot at the Sony when she was 14, a round in which she had 23 putts.
What this means for those who aren't very well-acquainted with golf is that it was probably a fluky round. Pacrim, I've said on numerous occasions that she'll eventually make a cut if given enough chances. However, read my first two paragraphs and then understand that there is something called deviation toward the mean.
Wie will not make the cut. She struggled to hit the greens yesterday. She played way above her ability with her short game, that's why she is only +1.
However, everyone knows that if you keep playing with fire and relying on your short game to save par. Eventually it will catch up to you.
Bubbles double-bogeyed a par five and is now four over. Turn out the lights, the party's ooooverrrrr . . . .

It got worse...bogey-quad...pressure player, that one...

Haha!
+9! While The Princess of DQs and MCs (aka The Teenage Golf Sensation) disappointed yesterday, she delivered in full today!! --Coolio
Pacrim,
Bubbles has tanked again. But hey, she did birdie her last hole for a sterling 80. Wow! She only missed the cut by nine strokes! It seems like Bubbles has a problem with being in too deep, over-matched, and out-classed. Just why do you Wie Warriers have so much trouble with these simple facts? The facts are that hell will freeze over and atheists will believe in the rapture before ANY woman ever makes a cut in a PGA tournament. Alex USMC 1969-73
Alex,
Let's give her credit; she did break 81.
Seven over on her back nine! It beggars belief, really.
Michelle has not figured out yet that with the gym workouts and today's golf equipment, the PGA players are hitting three woods 300 yards. One golfer had a drive of 400 (altitude assist) drive. If Michelle continues to have the attitude of "I wanna do what I wanna do when I wanna do it" then turn out the lights.
