There is a massive yet tasteful complex on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, a stone’s throw from city hall and Niagara Square (which truly looks more like a circle.) The executive offices and home store of New Era cap company occupy the former Federal Reserve Building. New Era has been in western New York since its founding some 80 years ago. With such a foothold in a region, what chance does another cap company stand?

I stumbled onto Pukka headware by chance and decided to learn a wee bit more about them. Located two states away, in Ohio, Pukka can boast about 1/10th of the history of New Era. In 2008, Pukka made its first big move, acquiring seven7under, one of the official caps of the 2008 Ryder Cup.

The company features 16 models of baseball cap, three models of visor and one bucket hat for men. The ladies can select from three visors and one wide-brim, while a unisex knit cap for cold weather is also available.

I’ve had the chance to wear four of their cap styles and did find the hat to be quite comfortable. The fit was precise and the look, quite appealing. Folks on the street and the fairways stopped to ask me what in the hello Pukka was; I confidently answered their questions.

What don’t I know about Pukka? How the hat will hold up! I’ll wear them in rain, sun and wind and keep you posted. In the meantime, consider Pukka, even in New Era country.

Ron, I sure hope those hats you were sporting weren't on sideways or backwards. Sources tell me you had the baggy pants hanging down so low people thought MTV wa shooting a SnoopDog video.

Look Ron, I can deal with the pants but don't spin the brim, please.
We're counting on you out here.
