Speculation runs rampant with Tiger Woods' caddie announcement

No one knew that speculation was such a fast cat. He was loosed today around water coolers everywhere, yet is so slippery that no one could get a hold on him to reign him in. The motivation for this dash for recognition? Tiger Woods’ announcement that Steve Williams will no longer be his caddie, if and when he returns.

Speculation left clues in his wake as to the reason for the Woods announcement. Was Steve enamored of the potential he saw in Adam Scott? Did he like the idea of a steady paycheck, one that was absent with each event that Tiger missed? Or is there something deeper, darker, more dangerous, at issue?

My guess: it’s a little bit of everything. A good caddie knows when to make an entrance and when to leave. The opportunity to work with a countryman in Scott may be just the exit from the high-speed carousel that Williams needed. If I hear or read more, you’ll be the first to know!
