Cold stone leaderboard as Saturday dawns at Augusta
Like it…Love it…Gotta have it. Those abrupt sizings we all know from a national ice cream parlor sum up the Saturday leaderboard for me. Here are the reasons why the top twenty golfers are priced the way they are:
*Jason Duffner~Gotta Have It~He’s unkempt and deserves a chance to vindicate last year’s PGA faltering;
*Fred Couples~Gotta Have It~A game for all ages, for fun and competition;
*Bubba Watson~Like it~Would grade him lower it I could. Something just doesn’t sit right with me;
*Sergio Garcia~Love it~Sorta like Bubba but a bit humbled. Deserves a major;
*Rory McIlroy~Gotta Have It~Electrifying player. Deserves same chance as Duffner;
*Oosthuizen~Love it~The guy who cares more about farm equipment than golf history;
*Westwood~Love it~Dropped from “Gotta” status when he doubled 18. A guy who wants to win a major, cannot afford to do that;
*Kuchar~Like it~great guy, no spice;
*Jimenez~Gotta Have It~Seen that gut, that pony tail, that gait? He ain’t no golfer, so how does he play like this? Augusta may not reward the Aussies, but it loves the Iberian peninsula;
*Lawrie~Like it~See Kuchar;
*Stenson~Like it~Only makes news when he strips or when he makes an eight;
*Watney~Love it~Supplanted by Simpson and Mahan as the Young American; a win here would return him to the top;
*Hanson~Like it~Everyone’s writing about how well this lad plays…it’s time to show us;
*Baddeley~Like it~Dude is kinda just there; Aussies are a close-knit, sometimes-closed, group;
*Singh~Like it~Hardest worker, zero fan appeal;
*Mickelson~Love it~Showed up early on Thursday to watch the Big Three tee off-All you need to know;
*Crane~Dairy Queen, Please~Just don’t like him. Tries to be funny in videos, does the game a disservice by turtleing;
*Howell~Gotta have it~one-time phenom who has been close before-hometown win would be stellar;
*Woodland~Love it~basher who has been very public about swing changes, which is rare;
*Furyk~Love it~singular swing of the bald eagle.
