St. Andrews is the only place in the world where a championship track built in the 1890's could be called the New Course. I have played both the New & Old Courses and here's a little secret: the New Course is tougher. There are none of the double fairways or greens but there is 2 or 3 times as much gorse.

Playing the Old Course is a magical experience, so unique that I can't even explain it. The New Course will never hold the Open Championship because of the history, but it's definitely worth a go.
