Mickelson and Tiger miss Grand Slam pro-am
The pro-am flu has struck Phil Mickelson again. First, he missed the Tour Championship reportedly because he couldn’t make the pro-am too. So, in light of the PGA Tour rule of “no pro-am, no play", he dropped the tournament altogether. I don’t necessarily blame him for that one because the tournament is just about money anyway and I think the brother already has plenty of discretionary income.
But this time he says it’s due to “family obligations.” Somehow I get the feeling that if it were a practice round for one of the Majors, he would’ve managed to work around the “family obligation.”
Then Tiger comes down with some sort of bug, leaving Vijay Singh and Micheal Campbell to entertain the troops. Good thing it’s just another made-for-tv exhibition. I feel for the paying folks on the island, who expected to be entertained a little more for the money. But if you’re going to get disappointed, is there a better place in the world to be?
