Ryder Cup Needs Special Ruling

Apparently there is a conspiracy underfoot at Nemacolin Woodlands in Pennsylvania where the PGA Tour is playing the 84 Lumber Classic. It seems that a certain government agent by the name of A. Powers has notified golf officials that European badman Dr. Evil has stolen the mojo from US Ryder Cup players. All of a sudden top golfers Scott Verplank, Chris DiMarco and Chad Campbell can’t hit their ass with a shovel. There may be a foreign link to this plot as the top 2 players in the world, Tiger Woods & Jim Furyk - also from the US - are currently suffering a similar fate in England.

In light of these breaking developments, US Ryder Cup Captain Tom Lehman has requested a special ruling that would allow him to pick some potential replacements. Said Lehman, “I’ve requested a substitute for the team next week at the K Club in Ireland. As luck would have it, US golfer Shaun Micheel is already in the UK and it would be a minimal disruption to his schedule for him to join us. He seems to be unaffected by this blatant act of foul play.”

And Ben Curtis can join Ryan.
Seriously, since we have been losing the Ryder Cup quite regularly I would like to see the captain pick hot golfers instead of experienced golfers.

Actually Stewart Cink IS one of the hot golfers. After Cink, Steve Stricker & Sean O'Hair are probably the hottest on Tour right now. Scott Verplank is the "experienced" one. The rest earned their way on the team.

But I've always maintained that both sides should have identical qualification rules. At least then you get apples and apples.

Shanks, I agree about Stricker and O'Hair and I picked Stricker this week on the punter's blog but didn't care for 28-1. But I really believe Ryan Moore will be the next big name in golf. For one thing, how many players have got on the PGA tour without Q school. Tiger, Leonard, and ? Plus he's leading this week and is having a good year even though he missed a lot with the wrist injury. And the last time I saw him he was picking the club straight up in front of him because it didn't hurt to swing that way. To me, and I've been around a long time, this boarders on unbelievable.

I meant borders of course. Ryan won't be a boarder at any rooming house, at least I hope not.

can someone please tell tiger to stop wearing his hat backward and to get rid of the lame gotee. he just looks ridiculous. you figure he would have a stylist or at least you'd think that his wife would tell him to stop embarrasing her when he looks that way. she's way too hot to have him dragging around looking like a thug.

I think Charles Howell is the only other one to qualify on earnings from the seven-exemptions rule.

Agreed on Moore, hope to get him in my fantasy pool next year. Huge upside.

THE SAYING "STUBBORN AS A MULE" REMINDS ME OF MICHELLE. SHE HAS CERTAINLY JOINED ALICE IN WONDERLAND IN HER QUEST TO CONTINUE PLAYING ON THE PGA TOUR. SHE HAS BECOME SO TIED UP IN HER OWN LITTLE WORLD THAT SHE ACTUALLY BELIEVES THAT SHE IS REALLY A GOLF PHENOM THAT WILL RULE THE GOLF WORLD SOMEDAY. I CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING POSITIVE COMING FROM HER WISH OF PLAYING ON THE PGA TOUR. UNFORTUNATELY, BOTH OF HER PARENTS HAVE $$ IN THEIR EYES AND THEIR ATTITUDE TO RUN HER HARD AND PUT HER AWAY WET WILL ONLY BRING DISASTER.

Actually all this sounds like a good sign for the US Ryder Cup. Players are thinking about the Ryder Cup like a Major Championship. They are using this week as a tune up, but they are focussing on parts of the game they will need next week rather than using a lot of energy they will need next week to study every detail of the course they are playing this week. They want to peak for the Cup.

The greatest advantage the Europeans had was that any member of their team could play equally well with any other member of their team. Not so with the Americans where Egos get in the way and certain players can, or only want to, play with other members of the team. Pity, a shame, a poor example of Comraderie !!
