Having watched professional golf for well over 30 years, I can safely say that I have never in all that time seen anyone enjoy themselves more than Lorena Ochoa did last week in the Women’s British Open. That’s in any tournament. Ever. Had they kept track of on-course laughs and smiles, she would have lapped the field. In my mind, Natalie Gulbis winning the Evian Masters last week is the biggest feel-good story of the year in professional golf. Perhaps only Tom Watson winning the Senior Open Championship - just a few weeks after his back nine evisceration at Whistling Straits in the Senior US Open - is close. But Watson has enjoyed his day in the sun many, many times on his way to becoming one of the greatest golfers in history.
