Tiger Woods will dominate again
Sportswriters are hilarious, not even as accurate as weathermen when it comes to forecasting. As they are giving you their best educated guess, it makes me wonder about the education. So, it is with that warning that I tell you this:
Tiger Woods will dominate golf again.
Oh, it’s easy to look at his struggles, both personal and professional, since that fateful day of the car accident and extrapolate those results to infinity. That’s the trap into which most of us fall. Golf, like life, doesn’t work that way. It’s ups and downs, dealing with adversity.
I once underestimated this man when he was a newcomer to the game. I’ve been watching golf since 1975 when Jack Nicklaus held off Tom Weiskopf and Johnny Miller to win his 5th Masters. Like any sports fanatic, I learned about the history of the game I loved. So when Tiger Woods burst on the scene in such an electric fashion, I figured it wouldn’t last. Nobody can be that good - it must be a hot streak. WRONG! Turns out he was that good.
I’m not a Tiger fan, per se, but I do appreciate his ability. Personally, I’ve always thought he was a bit of a jerk when he wasn’t trying hard to be nice. I see Woods as Mozart - a flawed genius. Once he gets his swing as dialed in as he can, you will see his short game get back to its exalted state of perhaps the best all-around in the game. And THEN, the rest will fear him. Again.
