Slow pace at Thistle Golf Club on Grand Strand admirable -- not a PR ploy

This is a little belated, but I have to respond to the Rebel Blogger, who once again must have had some of that wacky tobaccy in his cigar. He responded to a blog I wrote praising Thistle Golf Club near Myrtle Beach for its 12-minute interval tee times, a welcome change of pace on the Grand Strand.

The Rebel said it was a PR ploy built to disguise the fact the Thistle’s rounds were sagging. Actually, rounds are sagging everywhere on the Grand Strand – that doesn’t take away from the 12-minute intervals.

Also, note that the Thistle instituted those 12-minute tee times from the first day it started. If it’s a PR ploy, it’s a good one and obviously not in response to sagging rounds.

Don't believe the 12 minute tee times are all they're cracked up to be. We played the Thistle last year and caught the group in front of us at the tee box ont the third hole. We waited on them the rest of the front nine and had to wait on them to finish up on number nine. Then as we were coming off number nine green a "marshal" had the nerve to tell us WE were behind on time and needed to pick up the pace. I told him we had waited on the group ahead of us since the third hole. He became argumenative and told us we had "better pick it up!". His "Customer Service skills" were terrible! I told the person in the Pro-shop of our experience and they were very nice and apologized for the incident. I suggested a "Customer Service Class" for their marshals. Hopefully that has happened. The course was in awesome shape and a great variety of holes. It is one of our favorite courses so I hope the problem has been resolved.
