First Coast golf beats golf in Myrtle Beach

I said it once and I’ll say it again – the Jacksonville, Florida area matches and maybe even surpasses Myrtle Beach as a golf destination. The only reason Myrtle Beach is more popular is because of its superior marketing. The best courses along Jacksonville’s First Coast are as good and better than the best at Myrtle Beach.

Plus, Jax is easier to get to, at least for those golfers in the South. Jacksonville doesn’t have that herd ‘em in, hered ‘em out attitude, and it has only about 20 or so fewer courses.

Look for the full column on this soon, in which I’ll spell out more reasons.

I live in central Florida and play golf from Daytona south to Miami and on the west coast from Crystal River to Naples. I haven't heard much at all about the Jacksonville area for golf or places to stay. What I have heard is about Amelia Island and how expensive that place is. Tell us more about Jax.

A "Bubba" from Central Florida .... will wonders never cease!?

Seriously, though, Bubba, have a look over at www.jacksonvillegolf.com. Not a bad site. (And I happen to agree with McDonald - Jacksonville is a real undiscovered golf gem - just don't tell no one.)
