Is Annika Sorenstam's slump, like Tiger Woods, because of distractions?
Friday June 9, 2006 | 10:51:07 223 words, 1583 views
Is Annika Sorenstam going through a Tiger Woods-like season of distraction? Remember when Woods got married and went through a slump (well, it was a slump for him)? People were predicting it was the end of the Woods era. Now, look at him. Sorenstam, the dominant player in women’s golf, has won one tournament this year, compared to five last year. She actually missed a cut earlier this year for the first time in almost four years. This happens with phenomenal success sometimes, athletes getting involved in too many things as a result of their success. Sorenstam is getting involved in the golf course design business, she is opening a golf school and has a fitness routine coming out on DVD. She’s trying to get her first name made into a brand. (Sheesh). She’s just getting over a divorce. According to all accounts, she practices as hard as ever and seems to be perplexed as to her slump. She still makes a lot of birdies, but counters those with an abundance of bogeys, a sure sign of distraction. She probably could have gotten away with all this in years past. But, with all the young guns on the LPGA Tour now, she’s being pressed. If she can’t learn to juggle all this, look for her dominance to end. Comments:

Tim, you might like to change "give" to "five". As regards the slump, it gives some other players the chance to do something for a change.

You're an idiot. Everyone knows that Tiger's "slump" was because he was changing his swing.
Yes, he was changing his swing. As well as his marital status, you dim-witted dirt-bag. Which he admitted affected him, you slimy piece of flotsam.
Hey, you're right -- it's fun to be insulting and offensive when making a point. Leave a comment: |
