Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods deliciously paired at British Open

Can’t wait for the first two rounds at the British Open, when Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods are paired up. Two legends from different eras who aren’t exactly the best of buds.

Faldo, of course, won three British Opens when he was in his prime, and has taken some shots at Woods from his broadcast booth, as is certainly his right. Woods doesn’t forget these things. The guy’s got rabbit ears and a long memory.

Faldo’s already making excuses, saying he hasn’t had enough time to prepare to take on Woods. News flash, Nick: at your age, you don’t have enough time left in your life for that kind of preparation. Still, I hope Faldo does well. True, he was once a world-class jerk, but he’s developed into one of the better golf analysts these days, which – also true – is kind of a left-handed compliment.

Hi Tim,

Some good points on Faldo. I thought
he was a jerk for years....even saw him in person at Kemper Open where he
plunked a spectator on the hand and never said a word to him. He was all
business and seldom smiled. But now
to watch and listen to him with
'Zinger is just great....what a change. Wonder if he will wear a
"Tiger who" hat??!!

I think Faldo, even though his best golfing days are behind him, is one of the few guys who won't back down from El Tigre.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him do well. The guy's a champion, knows what it's like to perform under pressure, and his pairing with Woods just might bring out the best in him. He also knows links golf much better than Woods.

In fact, I've talked myself into making a bold prediction: He will outscore Woods at least one of the days he plays with him.
