Golf courses getting to be dangerous places

Golf courses are getting to be dangerous places. I was at The Pearl in the north Grand Strand recently, and saw an ambulance on an adjacent fairway, not something you want to see when you start a round. It turns out there had been a minor injury involving an employee and a lawn mower.

In Marsh Landing, Florida, a small plane made an emergency landing recently at the Marsh Landing Golf Course.

“I heard something and I came out and he was landed by then,” one witness told News4Jax.com. “It was pretty scary.”

No injuries in that incident, but at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra, also in St. Johns County, a man was critically injured when the guy driving his cart lost control and ejected his passenger, who landed on concrete.

One guy was riding on the back. Authorities said alcohol may have been involved.

I may start wearing a helmet.

In Poland, one official told me a few days earlier a group of Scots wrecked BOTH the golf carts (one was driven into a pond) they were using that day. Trained in the art of hooliganism, they were fine. They were billed for the carts.
