Myrtle Beach pols finally helping golf course communities
Myrtle Beach pols are finally getting around to setting limits on golf course redevelopment and protecting homeowners.
The Horry County Council rezoned the north course at Deer Track to limit the number of homes that can be built there to three an acre instead of seven, and then rejected a plan to redevelop The Wizard golf course, according to Myrtle Beach Online.
All this in the face of possible lawsuits by the Deer Track owners.
I’m glad the politicians are showing some guts. Owners and developers have been pushing around homeowners on golf courses and in golf course communities too long. You buy a home with the promise you’ll have golf course views forever, and then they swoop in when times get tough and sell out from under you.
It’s happening in Myrtle Beach and all around the country. The rights of homeowners seem to be taking a back seat to the greed of developers, and it has to be stopped. This is a step in the right direction, but it’s only a small step. This issue will be playing out in the courts for years to come.
