Ever thought about getting a job in the golf industry? Like say, a head pro or director of golf?

Why not? Hang out on the course, play golf every day, have a ball. Only, it ain’t like that.

The golf pros I talk to never have enough time to play.

For kicks, here’s a job application from the city of Ocala, FL. Ocala is looking for a director of golf for its two courses.

You’ll see what I mean.

Absolutely 100% correct.

You did a great job of showing it like it is. Perception is all we do is play all the time. As a PGA Life Member (20 years as a Class A), over the past 5 years probably havn't played 20 rounds of golf. Most of the time it is ownership who wants you there, making money for them. They could care less if you play.

There are few decent jobs out there, but for the most part, hopefully you've opened the eyes of a few. The good jobs are filled on the inside...They never make it to a national posting...

Old saying used to be want to screw up or lose your game, turn professional.

If given the opportunity to do it all over again, would I do it again?

Maybe......

Why? Because I love it...

Tim, 3 1/2 months agao I took over the Head Professional duties at a developing club in AZ. If I'm lucky I get to play one 18-hole round per month. No worries though, mate. I don't go to work everyday, I go to the golf course.
