The "Golf Jerk" amusing, but just another way to sell you useless golf tips

I like a good jerk as much as the next guy. Face it, some of the best comedians are jerks. Remember the movie, “The Jerk,” with Steve Martin? Hilarious.

That’s why I decided to take a look at the Golf Jerk Web site, after I was alerted by a PR release. Yes, the Golf Jerk has a PR company working for him. It advertises comments like:

“The guy who is nervous over the three-foot putt is going to miss it over 80 percent of the time. It doesn’t matter if he steps right up or, most likely, surveys it from every angle before missing. Either way, he’s a loser.”

His Web site is more of the same, with comments like: “I am much too important to even be sitting here writing this right now.”

And: “If you find me offensive, obnoxious, or whatever…feel free to leave my website at any time.”

I wanted to, but I sighed and pressed on, mainly because I was mildly curious about his angle. Sure enough, after more bullying and baiting, he finally gets to the point. He wants to sell you his “secret files,” which he claims will take 4-7 shots off your next round.

They cost $39.95.

So it turns out the Golf Jerk is just another infomercial, and an irritating one at that. If you buy his secret files, you’re a bigger jerk than he is. See, you can be abused, for free, right here. No need to go looking for it.
