TravelGolf.com blogger Kiel Christianson is a liar!

Tuesday April 3, 2007 | 17:07:58 141 words, 5085 views
Win a free golf book!

Actually, he’s probably telling the truth when he says he hit his Nike SUMO 2 driver 300 yards into the wind. I’ve met Kiel up close and personal. He’s a pretty big guy, don’t let that intellectual air fool you.

Still, 300 yards into a 30-50 mph wind?

Now, I’ve had my share of 300-yard bombs – which I crow endlessly about to anyone who will listen – but if I hit a 300-yarder into a gale force wind, I’m checking into Champions Tour eligibility.

I just got Taylor Made’s new “Burner” driver in the mail. When I pulled it out of the box, it nearly bit me. I’m going out after work to feed it hamburger. If I hit it the way I think I will, look for the Mega-Ultra-World Golf Macho Blogger Challenge soon.

Me and Kiel.

Anybody else want to challenge the big fellas?

I have witnesses! Matt Anderson, who breaks 80 on Barona Creek and hits it a long way himself, said that he'd never hit one as far as I did without the wind blowing. The wind was probably more like 25mph at the time, though.

Moreover, I don't make up distances. God knows, hitting the ball a long way is about the only thing I can do of any real distinction on a golf course. Now, if I claimed to shoot 70, that would be very suspect indeed.

I believe you. I'm the same way. Length is not my problem, on the course or in the boudoir, but I have the touch of Thor, the god of thunder.

Hitting it 300 yards isn't such a big deal nowadays.

I firmly believe if I could get Dave Peltz to work on my short game for a week, I'd be Champions Tour material.

I have no idea what I'm doing from 60 yards in.

Still, I will be logging some of my more stupendous drives. So far, the field includes you, me and Dave.

Kiel takes ´roids...there, I´ve exposed him. He also pounds beta blockers and does green chilis by the bushel.

You know, there are antibiotics one can
now take before one "unsheaths the Burner."
