The Players Championship: You want cream and sugar with that?

Every year, it’s the same question: Is The Players Championship a major?

Jeff Sluman still has the best answer.

“When you go to Denny’s and order the Grand Slam breakfast, they don’t give you five things, do they,” Sluman rhetorically asked the media several years ago.

For the record, that’s buttermilk pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage.

So, the Players is the cup of coffee in the Kingdom of Golf.

For the penultimate story on the issue, click here to read my insightful column on the matter. It’s so piercing and bluntly forceful, it will settle the question once and for all.

No, contrived means planned or calculated, something that isn't natural.

Every indication is the powers that be are going to crown The Players the 5th major. I'm sure Jack Nicklaus is in favor but should he be ? Tiger will have more starts to catch his new 20. I'm with Tim in that I don't think it should be a major for the reasons he stated in his article.
